Tuesday, I woke up and pulled myself to class to discuss Charles Dickens' Great Expectations. It was a very interesting class and it was nice to have more of a Dominican style discussion rather than a lecture, which is the norm here. After that Stef and I went to the Somerset House (huge and awesome...with ice skating that we will be doing later) and the Courtald Art Gallery. I've decided that I am a George Seurat fan. Any gifts of his work will be greatly appreciated...hehe.
After that we walked back to Covent Garden, grabbed some starbucks, went shopping, and finally met up with our friend Nikki to go and see Cole Porter's 'High Society'...its musical based on the Philadephia Story. Very entertaining and totally old Hollywood musical. Lovely!!!
Wednesday (that being yesterday...look I'm almost caught up!!!) we got up EXTREMELY early (8 o'clock) to make our way to Parliament. We got a tour of Parliament (very very very cool, pretty, not government looking at all) our tour guide was slightly condescending however and then we talked with a member of Parliament. He was very entertaining to talk to but most certainly a politician. I mean that in that he had a very way of answering the question that he wanted to answer, not necessarilly the question that was asked. A handful of us then went to watch a debate. To get into the gallery, I had to be thoroughly patted down....twice!!!! Thats high security. The debate was hardly the loud, lively debate that I was expecting. There were a handful of MPs and they were downright civil!!! oh well next time I suppose! After that Stef and I went to the Cabinet War Rooms and the Winston Churchill museum. I have decided that Churchill was one heck of a guy.....very very entertaining. The museum was really neat, especially when you consider that people lived underground like this during air raids and that so much important business was undertook here.
Afterwards, I made my way back home and had an easy night of hanging out in the lounge with the Marymount girls who were having a movie night. We watched house of wax (horribly gory and badly written, but what was I expecting?) and Zoolander (always a good choice!!!). That leads me up to today where we watched "Her Majesty, Mrs. Brown" about Queen Victoria and the relationship she had with her servant John Brown (not a scandalous relationship as you might think, she loved Albert far too much for that of couse!!) It was actually not a half bad movie AND it had Billy Connolly...he's in Boondock Saints....I love that movie. Anyway...that means I'm finally caught up and have managed to squeeze a whole week into two entries...quite impressive! I'm off to go see museums and what not and do what I'm supposed to do here...sight see. My dad and brother are coming here in a week, which should prove to be quite an interesting thanksgiving.
One last note: I know it's tech week for Dominican's production of "Little Shop of Horrors" and I just wanted to tell everyone to 'break a leg!' Have fun guys!
