So what have i been up to? Lots!!! In the past few days I have been making up on seeing all of my required contacts. So here is an itemized list.
After the movie I decided to do some more contacts. I ended up on the Southbank where I went to the Hayward Gallery which was really awesome and totally something I could see my friend Leah thoroughly enjoying...lots of art. And an awesome gift shop. They also had the entire city of London made out of pots and pans. Very cool.
After that I decided to go partake in some movie watching at the NFT...the national film theatre. It is such a cool place, they show all these old classic movies. I watched the movie 'Double Indemnity' apparently its the definitive Film Noir movie. Very good...what a chiller!!!
The next day was a marathon of contacts, with it starting off at the Pollack's Toy museum which was kind of an old creepy place....from one of those movies where the toy maker is evil and all the toys come alive to kill unsuspecting tourists like me....spooky!!!
After that Stef and I went to the John Soane museum...we didn't know who he was, but we had to go, so we did. It was a really interesting place...lots of old pieces of crownwork and very interesting architectual artifacts (he was an architect in case you were wondering!)
After that we went on a Legal London walk where we jaunted around the Inns of Court, learning where the best place to buy your legal robes and wigs is and what not. Much of the tour I'd done before on accident and by this book that my mom got me with all of these different london walks in. Still it was a good source of information AND a requirement.
After that we ended at the Royal Courts of Justice, which looks like a cathedral, when in fact its a court house. We watched two court cases, one on immigration and the other on pedophilia....a very interesting experience!!!
After that I hopped on a bus to the Barbicon where I saw Tamburlaine, a Christopher Marlowe play. Christopher Marlowe being a contemporary of Shakespeare....very cool. This is the third play that i've seen by the director David Farr....he gets around in London apparently.
Prior to the play there was this awesome afro-cuban jazz performance going on in the lobby. It was part of the London Jazz festival...i love little suprises like that!!
After that I came home and rested a bit, thinking about all the contacts i did that day.
The next morning I slept in a bit and got out and went to a lecture at the British Museum after that stef and I saw the Chelsea Royal Hospital and then I went over to Tate Modern where I saw some interesting modern art and then back to the NFT to watch "Love in the Afternoon" with Audrey Hepburn.....it was an adorable movie. I highly suggest it.
Today I got up and went to church as St Pauls...it was awesome to go there and they had the choir going and there was a beautiful echo.....good times. The Sermon sounded almost like a tourist annoucement though, with references to the Lion King Musical and Tate Britain, oh well, it was mostly tourists there anyway.
After that I went to the Tower Bridge Exhibition where I learned how the whole thing worked and its history. I also met some people that are from the town where I was born (peoria!)...it was crazy...what a small small world. After that I went to the Albert Memorial, had myself some chinese lunch and then met up with Stef for a lecture on kimono at the V & A. I've almost got allof my contacts done with....this is a very good thing. Tonight we're going to mass at the newman center next door (I have to have two religious services as contacts...so im doubling up on church today!).
Tomorrow: Who knows?!
